Al Koran

I remember an old television programme featuring, ‘Al Koran’ — who was a mental magician back in the 50s and 60s — in which certain ghost stories were dramatised, and a rational explanation offered.

In one episode, a woman had run screaming from her hotel room, and when she calmed down, she told how she had seen letters of fire, ten feet high, spelling out the words, “YOU WILL DIE”. She ran to the wardrobe to get her coat and a pair of baleful eyes blazed at her, so she left the room without it.

Al Koran visited her hotel, (in a dramatised reconstruction) and quickly showed how the fiery threat was really an illuminated sign for,

cut off by another building, so that only

was still visible.

As for the baleful eyes staring at her from her wardrobe, that was just her old fox fur that she’d hung there on her arrival, and forgotten about in the panic.

I’m sure this will have been wiped. And probably, the story was only an anecdote reproduced for entertainment purposes. But does anyone remember this show, and this episode?
